Yoga means the union of body, mind and spirit.

Yoga makes us feel confident within ourselves, more able to cope with life’s ups and downs and more able to listen to our inner guidance. Our physical health is improved as the body will gradually build strength, tone and suppleness.

Asana

The yoga positions termed asanas help us to tone, stretch, develop flexibility and build up strength in our bodies. By concentrating on the posture the mind becomes quiet, the breath becomes slow and self-awareness is developed.

Yoga is non-competitive, and is suitable for all, alternative postures and modifications can be used to help each student benefit from the practice.

Yogic Breath

Yogic breathing techniques slow the activity of the mind, as slow smooth breathing makes the mind calm. It is both relaxing and revitalizing to the whole body and reduces stress.

Relaxation

Specific techniques will be taught to totally relax the body and mind, allowing the body to absorb the work that has taken place. Relaxation also brings about a feeling of wellbeing and contentment that can be taken into our daily lives.

Yoga Philosophy

Yogic philosophy will be touched on within the lessons helping to highlight the link between mind, breath and body, and to develop awareness of self and inner guidance.

About me

I have been practicing yoga for 18 years, influenced by Iyengar Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I am British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) trained and always in search of ways I can improve my teaching, regularly attending teacher training groups.

I have suffered back pain and sciatica in the past and used my yoga practice to free myself from pain and to make sure that I am not troubled by the condition again. I have been to various workshops on yoga for back pain so I feel able to pass on this knowledge within the classes. The BWY training has provided me with a wealth of resources for teaching asana, breathing techniques/pranayama, and relaxation techniques.

Yoga one-to-one

I am very keen to provide classes for people in their own homes, where any health problems and/or desired outcomes will be discussed. A programme of asanas and other techniques will then be tailor made to address these areas. If desired I would be able to use the added skill of the Bowen Technique that I have been practicing for the last 9 years. The Bowen Technique is a light touch therapy used to alleviate many areas of pain or stiffness, and helps to align the body.

The cost of the one-to-one classes is £35 for 1.5 hours
or £30 for 1 hour.

I am also a Homoeopath, practicing for the last 12 years, if you are interested in having treatment click on the homeopathy button

As you can see health has always been an interest for me, and yoga is a lovely tool to use to improve health on a physical, mental, and emotional level. I love learning about yoga and teaching yoga, I would welcome any queries about my classes or treatments.

Yoga makes you feel good, it’s relaxing, it’s energizing, it’s strengthening. You feel better at the end of a session than when you began. Yoga enhances your experience of life.
